Who’s a real American? Hulk Hogan of course! It’s the 4th of July. How do you not put this here!? The love of wrestling really is a stereotypically American thing. And it originated in Greece, which keeps up that good ol’ American tradition of nothing that is considered American actually originating here! And then we bitch about immigrants…but I digress. Bitching is very American too.
Hogan will always be part of Americana at this point. He’s one of our cultural icons. It felt fitting to celebrate part of wrestling Americana today. Maybe that will be become a tradition on this blog.
On a slightly more serious note, today we celebrate not only our Founding Fathers, but the countless thousands of famous and un-named people throughout American history who have fought to create a free and more equal nation for all of us. It’s also good to remember that many in this country weren’t actually freed on this day.
As is tradition for me, I would also encourage you to listen to Hendrix’s version of the “Star-Spangled Banner” today. It really should be our National Anthem.
Have a good one y’all!
