5. THE SPINNING BELT NEEDS TO GO
No one likes that piece of shit. Nor does it represent Cena in any way. When Cena originally got the belt he was a heel…and the spinning “W” was supposed to disgrace the belt. Besides, Cena isn’t even doing his Thuganomics gimmick anymore. It’s stupid…it’s just stupid to keep this thing! Giving someone else the belt means the chances of getting a belt that looks like a championship and not some cheap watch you got sold on the street corner are higher. Your fans want a respectable-looking belt.
4. PEOPLE DON’T BUY IT
I know millions of dollars say differently…and that’s a valid point. I think if you’re gonna have someone who defines an era, they have to be larger than life. There’s a reason Cena never got the kind of reception that Hogan, Macho Man, The Rock, and Austin did. I think that’s because he isn’t larger than life, and people know it. No one can be Hogan. No one can be The Rock. No one can be Austin.
Any of us could be Cena.
That’s why at different points in his career there have always been “Cena Sucks!” chants. He has never been able to get over completely. To make people love him universally. Even though Smarks may have not liked Rock and Austin as wrestlers, they respected them on the mic. They saw talent where talent was. Cena may be a hard worker and very loyal to the business…but he doesn’t have the talent. His status isn’t deserved. People realize it. Vince trying to force him down our throats doesn’t change that. We aren’t stupid.
3. THIS AIN’T THE 80’S
Again, Cena isn’t Hogan 2.0! The 1980’s were a different, more conservative time. Hell, wrestling was still in Kayfabe and we were still in the Cold War! That whole milk n’ cookies, say your prayers, wave the flag, All-American, America: Fuck yeah!…thing…was more acceptable and fit the times.
We had the Attitude Era, and you can’t go back! That’s why the All-American, Goody-Goody, Respectful, Sportsmanship, Salute the troops thing isn’t working. It’s one of the things that have made any fans turn their back on the business. We had that guy in the Attitude Era. His name was Kurt Angle. Ya know who was a heel w/ the gimmick Hogan had been a face with 10 years before?
We want grit in our Superstars. Austin made that one of the qualifications. He changed everything…and you can’t go back. Trying to go back is what has been costing you.
2. HE’S BOOED AS CHAMPION
Nothing really needs to be said here. It’s time. Turn him.
1. CM PUNK IS BACK
Punk is the face. For them to feud…Cena has to be the heel. C’mon Steph! You know this! Let’s make it happen!
